RE: What ever happened to screamo, emoviolence and powerviolence?

People are too busy abusing the term "screamo" to actually make any music of that genre. Not that I like screamo anyway, but there's a few bands still releasing stuff, life Envy.

People keep on saying powerviolence is making a comeback, but I hadn't really noticed.

Screamo got abducted by MySpace or Hot Topic or whatever the kids are relying on to get music these days.

Emoviolence is probably dead.

Powerviolence is still around, but it basically only has one sound now and everyone just wants to make music to skate to.

I'm going to show my ignorance and ask, what is "emoviolence" anyway?

Emoviolence is just basically harsher, more chaotic screamo.

That definition is correct and anyone who argues is wrong.

RE: What ever happened to screamo, emoviolence and powerviolence?

there's been a bunch of joke pv bands named after celebrities lately. and even more crossed out ripoffs than usual. apartment 213 (which sucks) is a big part of the 4th/5th wave pv revival in the USA. metal magazines are making it out to be something "new", it's fucking ridiculous.

Vyvyan Scum was right on the money about emoviolence. i guess the swing kids would probably be the best example of that?
