urgh, sick sounds here from these Australian psychos! they play a technical style of death/grind which also brings to mind sick porn/grind bands like cock & ball torture, and so on, but with a lot more technical stuff! the production put me off the band at first, but after repeated listens it's grown on me, it's definitely a unique sound anyway! apparently the music was recorded in one 12 hour session, and the vocals the next day in 6 hours, so this probably accounts for the sound, though maybe this lack of time also gave rise to the furious and on-the-edge intensity of the bands performance on this cd! the drums and vocals are the loudest instruments, with the drums having a sort of thin "tin-can" sound to them, but it suits the drummers playing style, cos he plays a lot of busy stuff which you can hear really well with this sound. the guitar is kinda quiet, which is a shame, and the bass is really bassy and boomy, though again it's a bit quiet. vocals are mad, as all 3 band members contribute with crazy grunts, groans, yells, shrieks, etc.! musically it's very unsubtle and erratic stuff, lots of weird rhythms and time changes and the odd little solo break, like in some songs the drums and guitars stop for a second as the bassist lays down a fucked up slap bass part, then they'll go straight back into their sick and bizarre musical maulings! lots of funny intros on here too, and dumb porn/gore song titles like "do the retard rape", "dead little pregnant girl", etc.! despite the done-to-death gore imagery, this is actually pretty original sounding as far as the music goes, they don't really sound like any other bands out there, and could well appeal to both those into sick porn/grind stuff and people into the more challenging stuff with technical song structures. interesting!
