RE: Fastest band
I'd say WBI. Arschbombe Des Monats has some of the fastest blasts ever.

RE: Fastest band
I've only heard "None so Vile". Pretty fast, as I recall, but not fast enough to be the "fastest", surely?

i don't know man, talking strictly bpm-fast i've never heard anyone who "sounded faster". their less liked and more recent album "once was not" is faster than none so vile (but nsv is a better album).
it depends though, what makes a band fast? drums? some bands like necrophagist are faster on guitar, but i'd tend to think drums are the benchmark for a band being fast in which case i'd say cryptopsy.

RE: Fastest band
Yeah, Cryptopsy ranks as one of the fastest, mainly concerning the drum elements. Flo is fairly technical as well, not sure if many will notice, but he's adding tons of paradiddles, doubles, triples and various other techniques at breakneck speeds. Ex-drummer, Kai from Rotten Sound was possibly one of the fastest as well, possibly even faster than Flo, clocking in and or faster than 340 bpm (but not as tech). Kai is multi-talented in various genres as well, the sticking patterns of jazz is pretty fucking hard. I know many that can't even touch or bother with it, except for two friends. It's taken me years of study, trial and error to get some jazz techniques down, and I still struggle with it learning new stuff even to this day. K, back on topic with "speed."
I spoken with and read many other interviews with drummers from the extreme musick genres, and have mentioned that many beginner drummers today learn to blast and play fast, but lack the fundamentals and foundations of playing.

RE: Fastest band
a friend told me to just spend as much time as i could learning rudiments, and jazz techniques. he said i would get a lot better, and a lot faster. so i listened to him and now find myself able to play fast whilst incorporating paradiddles and shit. maybe, one day, ill be as good as flo. then again, probably not.

For human overall heres a few i can think of
Fastest ever bass drumming: Deuterium
Deathgrind band that split up years ago, the the songs on this demo, specifically death valley has the fastest human bass drumming i have ever heard. 330-340 bpm for about 10 seconds. It's so fast it sounds totally different, like a wall of blitzing bass, the likes you hear with drum machine band like prosthetic cunt
Malignancy - Cross Species Transmutation - whole album but specifically Track 3 Fibroid Embolism - 320bpm snare drumming at track end
Mithras - 260-280bpm+ overall, with 300+bpm bass drumming on worlds beyond the veil title track. (havn't heard their new stuff)
Brodequin, Vital Remains, Decrepit Birth, Man must die, Nile. are all in the 260bpm+ range at times. And don't forget grinders Anal cunt, alot of their blasts are 280bpm range, only it doesnt sound so fast because theyre so noisey and often sloppy.
It's pretty damn impossible to play faster then 320bpm without it becoming just tiny taps like world fastest drumm style.
