(self released - get it from prick productions)
I've been waiting for this album ever since I saw the band play the adelphi over a year ago and got their old demo tape. live they were totally killer, and the demo was really good too, though' it was recorded about 2 years ago at the time. so as you can imagine, they have improved a hell of a lot since then! this cd fucking shreds, it's 12 tracks of very intense brutal death metal in 30 minutes, with a really outstanding performance from the whole band. in proper death metal style they use plenty of riffs of different speeds and styles, from mid-paced grooves to hardcore-style beats and, of course, tons of devastating blastbeats! the speed factor is totally there, the band have really taken their music to the next level. the guitar and bass work is fast, accurate, and there's some cool weird bits, even a simple yet great melodic solo on the last song! the drumming is very snappy and accurate, with excellent use of some seriously speedy blastbeats. the vocals are really distinctive, from guttural roars and retched growls to insane screams. as well as the slamming blastbeats and mad riffing, they've also put in a few more surprising parts in their songs, by which I mean, it's not just original in the sense that the riffs haven't been used before, but some of the actual ideas are unexpected. it doesn't really sound like they are copying any existing bands style, rather anyone who likes bands like dying fetus and cryptopsy who take ideas and elements from many styles of brutal music will love these too, cos like those bands they've made a record which sounds original and modern without being crap or straying far from the brutal death/grind genre. and the production is mighty fine too, it's got a good clear sound, so you can hear every little bit of trickery they've put into it, though I think it would be better with a heavier guitar sound. also, they could improve further by using more of their weirder ideas, to make them sound more unique! yet another example of a great band right here in our very own country! so go see 'em live too!
